Hopper Technology Solutions (“HTS”) offers travel flexibility add-ons made available to you through its business partners that do not replace insurance and are intended to be complementary to purchased insurance products.
These non-insurance travel flexibility add-ons are not travel insurance and are not intended to replace the benefits of travel insurance. These add-ons operate independently from, and complementary to, travel insurance. Travel insurance may be purchased separately.
What are HTS Flexibility Add-ons? |
|---|
As part of its mission to provide a more seamless, reliable and flexible experience for travel booked through its app and websites, HTS, together with its partners, may offer you travel flexibility products available for purchase alongside your travel booking. HTS’s suite of travel flexibility products are not travel insurance, but rather a limited set of services and refunds. For example, depending on what country you are in and which partner website or app you are using, HTS may offer: * A “cancel for any reason” add-on that makes an otherwise non-refundable flight refundable by HTS should you choose to cancel the booking prior to travel for any reason. * A rebooking service add-on through which HTS, as your travel agent, provides rebooking options in the event your flight is delayed or canceled on the day of travel. All of these services are provided to you by HTS through a self-help experience and/or with the assistance of HTS customer support. |
What is travel insurance? |
|---|
Travel insurance is insurance coverage for loss to an insured arising from risks incident to planned travel and outside of your control, including, for example: Interruption or cancellation of trip or event (e.g., resulting in loss of services paid for in advance, such as missing a cruise or event, or increased costs incurred due to an interruption for alternative lodging or travel arrangements); * Loss of baggage or personal effects; * Damages to accommodation or a rental vehicle; or * Sickness, accident, disability or death occurring during travel. If you have purchased travel insurance and wish to file a claim, it would typically be filed with the insurer directly, which will require evidence supporting the claim (e.g., the amount of loss and reason why the claim is covered under their applicable travel insurance policy). |
HTS Cancel for any Reason for Flights and /or Hotels | Typical travel Insurance with cancellation coverage |
|---|---|
Allows you to cancel your trip for any reason and at your discretion in advance of check-in or departure (as applicable) and receive a full or partial refund of your flight or hotel costs to your original form of payment. Does not provide a refund in the event your flight or hotel is canceled by someone else, such as the carrier or provider, for reasons outside your control. | A travel insurance product typically includes cancellation coverage that reimburses trip costs only in the event something happens which is outside of your control and is not reasonably foreseeable, for example if the air carrier cancels the flight due to bad weather or if you suffer a serious covered illness or injury. That said, certain travel insurance providers offer travel insurance with a “cancel for any reason” benefit similar to HTS’s “cancel for any reason” product, albeit at additional cost and only in conjunction with the sale of the insurance.* |
*None of the insurance products available through websites or apps which also offer HTS’s Cancel for any Reason include a cancel for any reason component.
HTS Rebooking Service | Typical travel insurance with disruption protection |
|---|---|
Provides you with a service to rebook your flight on any airline at no additional cost (up to a specified maximum amount per passenger) if, on the day of travel, your flight is delayed or canceled by the airline. Provides a service satisfaction guarantee – if you are unhappy with your rebooking options, you can opt to receive a refund of your original flight cost instead of using the rebooking service. | A travel insurance product typically provides disruption coverage that will reimburse out-of-pocket expenses you incur as a result of a covered disruption on the day of travel, such as parking, meals and accommodation while you wait for your rebooked flight. A travel insurance policy would not typically provide rebooking services or reimburse you if you are not satisfied with your rebooking options. |
